Website frenzy

"What is with you guys ? Only this week I've got seven web design offers !" My client was a little bit nervous. "Well, because you need !" I replied. I had to explain why should he have a web site. And why many times is more profitable to pay for a professionally built web site instead of saving a few hundred bucks.
So, why we pay expensive add campaigns in all kind of media ? Yellow pages or other directories ? Because we need the notoriety, we need to promote our products or services and the most of all to sale.
And the web site is giving you all these.
You pay a small (or not so small) fortune for a classic promotion campaign (press/radio/TV) while a well built website can give you the same results at a mere fraction of the cost. And is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
At the same time the web site can be a very powerful platform for many other promotions: newsletters, blogging, user reviews, feeds, viral promotion (which does your job by itself) and others.
On-line catalogs are by now common on the Internet, used extensively for e-commerce and product presentation. There are over one billion Internet users throughout the world. How many shops and personnel would you need to cover all of them ? I bet you can not even guess. Neither do I. But I know that one single website can reach them all. And localization (adding a language) is easier than ever.
Customer support (documentation, FAQ, mail or ticketing support, all kind of services) can be run from a web site. Sell force support and management for all kinds of tasks, distribution assistance, updated reports and others.
The web site and the Internet by itself are just a means to an end. Use them.
